Spring, rain and updates

Published

Spring is the rainy season, this year, and the rain, this year, is perfect for the updates.

I don’t remember so much rain in April and May like this year.
It’s the 6th year that we live here!
But the rain is not bad, sometimes it takes, so we take advantage of the few hours of sun to stay outside and of the long time of rain to update the B&B Costiera dei Cech.

Let’s start with the Spring.
Spring has always been the period in which the desire to walk is felt.
Winter is for me the period of low altitude hiking, waiting for new annual exploration in high altitude during the summer/autumn.

So I climb the Colmen, where everything seems to be still in hibernation but where I get excited at every glimpse of Morbegno and Como Lake.

From the summit and the close Rifugio la Casermetta I enjoy the surrounding mountains covered by snow.
The Colmen is different from the other mountains of the Valtellina, the vegetation is at times almost Mediterranean and with the classic shape of the volcano, which is not!

It’s Monday today and no one is around, except for some swallow in the sky and some butterfly looking for an open flower.

On the Costiera dei Cech, towards the Bivacco Bottani, I see less snow and few signs of avalanches, while the summits of the Val Masino still seem completely covered by snow. In the middle I see the Valle Di Spluga, wild and attractive as always.

The descent from the Colmen and the return to Chempo, through the Sentiero Anna, was under a sky covered by clouds. I was at home just in time to light the stove and hear the first raindrops hitting the roof and silence the crickets in the meadows that had deluded themselves that Spring had arrived.

Rain,
Spring rain, day and night
with and without wind
with the horses outside that continue to eat grass day and night
but only if there is no wind.

I love the rain and its ability to reinvent the places and in my case the mountains. The rain can ruin the plans that we have built in our mind but in truth it simply changes them. The rain doesn’t block us from walking or seeing a place. Try to believe, at least once in a while!

But the rain also helps to focus on small and big things, to make plans and updates.

Updates.
Spring is the season of awakening and of the desire to engage in something new, the rain helps to concentrate and find time for things you wouldn’t never do with the sun. Our updates and improvements are the result of the spring and rain mix.

After 6 years of guests, we have updated a bit the rooms of B&B with colors and some additional furnishings (… don’t worry, TV has not been added!).

The website of B&B Costiera dei Cech has been modified, increasing in size, without changing the meaning.

The cakes…, but I’ll tell you in another time.
